Response Simulator for the Maritime industry

Safety incidents are part and parcel when operating within the Maritime field. In order to better prepare safety experts for the risks of incidents, VSTEP Simulation presents a solution for safe, cost-effective and sustainable virtual training – Response Simulator (RS). The solution meets the STCW Advanced Fire Fighting section A-VI/3 table A-VI/3-1.

Promote safety awareness at Maritime organisations

In 2019, there were 3,174 marine incident and casualties, mostly caused by human and mechanical errors (Safety4Sea). Marine incidents are high-risk events, causing injuries, possible fatalities and environmental catastrophes. Ultimately, the best prevention or de-escalation of incidents is a well-trained crew that can identify risks and react accordingly when a disaster does strike.

To better prepare safety professionals for dangerous incidents at sea or port, Response Simulator presents a solution for safe, cost-effective and sustainable virtual training. Response Simulator helps safety professionals train to enhance their decision making, situational awareness and effective use of resources. In time, this will reduce the risk of incidents and promote a safer workplace.

Key Benefits

  • Visualisation of emergency scenarios to enhance trainee engagement

  • Safe and sustainable solution: Train in a realistic environment without the dangers, costs and time associated with traditional training.

  • Develop preparedness and response strategies for critical situations

  • The possibility of remote training from anywhere in the world

  • Ensure knowledge and techniques that meet the requirements set out in section A-VI/3 table A-VI/3-1 of the STCW Advanced Firefighting Code.

What sets RS apart?

  • Debriefing functionality: Users are able to easily record and playback the simulated training exercise in sync with all verbal communication. This allows the instructor to effectively evaluate trainees performance and discuss alternative response strategies.

  • Multi-user functionality: Users are able to divide roles and responsibilities in an incident and practice teamwork, communication skills and leadership skills.

  • Library of maritime objects, environments and characters: Allows instructors to easily create any imaginable scenario that meets varying levels of complexity and training objectives.

One of the features of Response Simulator that stand out is the option that allows instructors to demonstrate real life situations in safe environments. The hands-on nature of the training is extremely interesting for students, and they are able to gain more from the trainings. Students love to learn by doing, failing and eventually succeeding.
