Rotterdam, 17 May 2018 – VSTEP has recently confirmed an order of NAUTIS 3, in combination with an Oculus Rift head mounted display (HMD) module and several ports and vessels from the NAUTIS library, by Arklow Shipping. The order of a premium NAUTIS desktop simulator will assist the company with its commitment to maintain safe and efficient operations of its ships and provide the best quality of service to its customers.
Arklow Shipping was founded in the 1960s in County Wicklow, Ireland and is highly regarded for its shipbuilding capabilities. The 52 ship strong company has grown to become a leader within Europe in dry bulk trade and has management teams based in Arklow, Ireland and Rotterdam, Netherlands. It is also involved in the transportation and logistics of project cargoes and offshore structures, offshore and landline pipes, dangerous bulk cargoes and much more onboard the company’s iconic green hull ships.
“NAUTIS 3 is a wonderful addition to our current training methods. Recent years have seen an increased number of marine incidents, highlighting the importance of proper training. Here at Arklow Shipping we pride ourselves in our continued efforts to invest in our crews and personnel. We are certain that the recent purchase will allow us to stay in line with this,” says David Elliott, Marine Superintendent at Arklow Shipping.
The premium NAUTIS 3 simulator will grant Arklow Shipping the opportunity to train (future) captains and navigation officers to the best of their abilities, thereby assisting the company’s commitment to the safe and efficient operation of its ships and a high quality of service to its customers. The additional HMD module will ensure the realism needed for trainees to be fully immersed in the simulation. Thanks to the affordable price and small form factor of the NAUTIS desktop simulator, high quality certified training becomes a possibility on any location, including on board of ships or in classroom environments.
“I am happy that we were able to strike a deal with Arklow Shipping. It is always nice to see companies looking for ways to improve the quality of their operations to best serve their customers. This NAUTIS purchase will enable Arklow Shipping to do so. The company, with its impressive history in the Irish shipping industry, continues to expand and with the purchase of the NAUTIS simulator Arklow Shipping can rest assured that their training expectations will be met,” says Evelina Chen, Account Manager at VSTEP.
This new order highlights the ever growing NAUTIS 3 customer base. We hope to continue working with Arklow Shipping in the future and form a business relationship that will be beneficial to us both.
